Letter: Cast a ‘yes’ vote for schools

I would urge all Camas School District voters to vote yes for the upcoming capital projects bond and levy replacement. As a proud Camas High School graduate (Class of 1966), I can see that this proposal will only enhance Camas’ reputation as a great place to raise exceptional students.

The safety aspects in the bond proposal, such as limiting access points to the schools and seismic upgrades for the Garfield facility and Joyce Garver Theater, make sense in this age of heightened awareness of potentially life-threatening events that have tragically hit other communities.

The much-needed facility for an additional 600 students at the high school campus and a North Lacamas replacement for Lacamas Heights Elementary make sense at this time, before we have to subject students to an entire school career of portable classrooms.

Although I do not presently live in the district, I still pay property taxes there that support the schools and I would ask for voters in the district to cast a positive vote for the schools. I will continue to willingly and proudly do my part to pay for Camas schools.
