Rhames, not Jones, voices Arby’s ads

You have questions. I have some answers.

Is it James Earl Jones who does the funny Arby’s commercials? It sure sounds like his famous voice.

No. It is another deep-voiced, African-American actor, Ving Rhames. You may recognize him from his recurring appearances as Luther in Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible” movies as well as an array of parts big and small. He is also well-known for playing the title role in “Don King: Only in America,” for which he won a Golden Globe that he promptly presented to fellow nominee Jack Lemmon.

Is Jamie Pacino, the producer and writer on “Chicago PD,” any relation to the actor Al Pacino?

Not as far as I can determine. For one thing, Jamie’s last name is actually spelled Pachino. You can learn more about her considerable accomplishments at www.jamiepachino.com.

Will “American Odyssey” be back?

No. NBC decided to end the series after a single season.

A Jesse Stone movie starring Tom Selleck was on in 2015 and we missed it. We tried to find it On Demand with no luck. I believe it was on Hallmark Channel but not sure if the movies are always on Hallmark.

The latest Jesse Stone movie, “Lost in Paradise,” aired on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and is still getting replayed at times. It will also be released on DVD on Jan. 26.

I would like to know why Patrick Dempsey is not on “Grey’s Anatomy” anymore. I thought he was so good and fit with Meredith. I really miss him.

Dempsey had from time to time spoken about moving on from the ABC medical drama. Last season, there were reports that his behavior on the show had become difficult to deal with; his marriage ended during the season, and around that time, he was absent from six episodes.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes fueled speculation that Dempsey had been let go when she admitted on Larry Wilmore’s “The Nightly Show” that she had killed off a character because she did not like the actor; Rhimes did not name names, and a lot of people have been killed on her shows, but Dempsey came to mind for many people.

Dempsey, on the other hand, told Entertainment Weekly after his departure that “I want to try something different” but being written off the show “was something that was kind of surprising and, uh, just naturally came to be.” When EW asked Dempsey in December if he thought Rhimes had been talking about him to Wilmore, Dempsey’s answer was neither a yes or no. He said he was “very happy to have moved on with a different chapter in my life,” which includes the movie “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” due in theaters this fall.
