Boys basketball: Columbia River 56, W.F. West 51

Spencer Long’s five 3-pointers helped the host Chieftains shake the Bearcats for the non-league win.

Long hit a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to pull Columbia River within three points. He then drained three 3-pointers in the third quarter to to spark the Chieftains into the lead.

Long finished with 23 points, Andrew Vickers scored 13 and Jacob Hjort 11 for River (12-4).

Chieftains coach David Long said the defense of Spencer Black and Vickers against the W.F. West post was one key to the win. Black finished with six blocked shots.
