The Clark College women’s soccer team has landed four local players as the first signees to its 2016 recruiting class.
Riley Smetzler and Madison Ochoa were each key players on a Ridgefield High School team that placed second in the 2A state playoffs this year.
Smetzler was the 2015 2A Greater St. Helens League Defensive MVP despite missing her entire junior season with a knee injury.  Ochoa was a four-year varsity player who was first team all-league this season.
Joining the Ridgefield duo at Clark are Rylee MacDonald of Camas and Maddison Maffeo of Battle Ground.
MacDonald started in midfield for the Camas team that placed third in the 4A state playoffs this season. Maffeo was a three-year starter for Battle Ground and team MVP this season.
The Penguins went 9-0-3 in Northwest Athletic Conference play and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2015. They have made the NWAC post-season playoffs for five straight years.
