Letter: Speak out on bathroom rules

By John Lifflander, Ridgefield
Published: January 29, 2016, 6:00am

A 10-year-old girl goes into a public bathroom stall. A pedophile follows her in the bathroom and is standing there naked when she exits the stall. She screams and runs out, and is so traumatized that she becomes afraid to enter any bathroom alone. The pedophile has previously been arrested for exposing himself, but the police can do nothing to him now.

Your daughter comes home from school and swears that she will never go back. “Why? What’s wrong?” you ask. “Mom, naked boys came in the shower, and were grinning and laughing at us. It was so humiliating. I’ll kill myself before I’ll go back!”

Under the new Washington Administrative Code (WAC 162-32-060, gender-segregated facilities) that passed on Dec. 26, nothing can be done to stop these things from happening.

Please rally with us at the Clark County Courthouse at 2 p.m. Jan. 30 to peacefully protest WAC 162-32-060. This is a bipartisan issue; no matter what party you like, this will affect you or someone in your family. The safety and security of your wives, mothers, daughters, sisters and granddaughters is at stake. Email john@liffland.com for more details.
