Manisto-Saari wins teen vocal contest

VANCOUVER – Sunday Manisto-Saari’s performance of “Don’t Rain on my Parade” was the winner Monday at the Sing Fourth teen vocal competition.

The Mountain View High School student was among 10 local students performing on the Vancouver Toyota main stage at Independence Day at Fort Vancouver.

Manisto-Saari received a $1,000 scholarship.

Sydney Valaer of Washougal High School received second place and $500 with “All That Matters.” Amanda Nicholson of Evergreen High School took third place and $250 with “Beyond My Wildest Dreams.” The singers were judged on originality, skill, poise, audience appeal and family-friendly content.

Other vocalists were Sahara Jones of Vancouver School of Arts and Academics; Hannah Toner of Mountain View High School; Amethyst Ackerman of Prairie High School; Quintin Gaither of Hudson’s Bay High School; Nicole Roller of Skyview High School; Brittni Plummer of Union High School; and Shawni Van Vessem of Skyview High School.
