BEND, Ore. — A woman and three children have been injured after a pickup truck was struck by a train in Oregon.
The Bulletin reports that the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office didn’t release their names or conditions Thursday night. Authorities say the injured people were taken to nearby hospitals by helicopters and ambulances.
Deputies say witnesses report the 42-year-old Madras woman driving toward the railroad tracks north of Culver and stopping. Investigators believe the driver became distracted by a collision and subsequent drunken driving investigation going on near the tracks and pulled into the path of the train.
A news release from the Sheriff’s Office says the train hit the pickup on the passenger side, causing it to spin, flip and end up in a nearby ditch.
