Clark County – The Washington State Department of Health is urging parents to ensure their children’s immunizations are up to date before they go back to school.

Last school year, 85 percent of kindergartners had all their required immunizations.

However, almost 4,000 kindergartners had been exempt from recommended immunizations.

Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, a change to the chickenpox vaccine requires youth in kindergarten through grade 12 get two doses of the vaccine or have a health care provider document that they already had chickenpox.

A complete list of immunization requirements is available at www.doh.wa.gov.
