A rally to highlight elder abuse in Clark County will be held at noon Friday on the steps of the Clark County Courthouse, 1200 Franklin St.

Kathleen Wright-Brawn, chairwoman of the Kasem Cares Foundation, said those in attendance will protest against the financial abuse of the elderly by probate lawyers, guardians and judges.

The Kasem Cares Foundation promotes elder abuse awareness and fights for visitation rights and access to parents who may be under the care of an uncooperative family member.

Kerri Kasem, who founded the organization, will speak at the event, as will state residents.

Kasem and her two adult siblings were blocked from seeing their ailing father, radio personality Casey Kasem, by their stepmother. Casey Kasem, who suffered from dementia, died in Gig Harbor in 2014. He was 82. The family had been involved in a long legal battle over his care.
