The damage from a fire that destroyed an outbuilding in Ridgefield was too extensive to determine a cause, Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Curtis Eavenson said.

He estimated the damage to the structure and contents of a 800-square-foot barn and a 288-square-foot outbuilding was about $60,000, Eavenson said.

Firefighters with Clark County Fire & Rescue were called to the blaze at 1804 N.W. 310th St. at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday but were hesitant to cross a private bridge that might or might not support their fire engines, fire officials said.

Crews attacked the flames with garden hoses until a lighter-weight brush fire rig could cross the bridge and reach the scene.
