Clark County sheriff’s deputies have responded to at least three reports over the past few days of soda bottles containing chemicals — all apparent pop-bottle bombs that had not ruptured — and the sheriff’s office is reminding residents to be watchful.

The devices are made by mixing reactive chemicals in a bottle, creating enough pressure inside that the bottle pops loudly.

Two of these bottles were found north of Battle Ground and one was in the Orchards area, according to the sheriff’s office.

Such devices can be dangerous. The substances used in some can cause chemical burns if they come in contact with skin or eyes.

The sheriff’s office reminds residents that if they find a pop bottle with the lid on and what looks like something other than soda inside, or if the bottle shows signs that it’s under pressure, to not touch it, leave the area and call 911.

The sheriff’s office also asks anyone with information about who is making the devices to call 911.
