PORTLAND — Prominent investors from Silicon Valley and the Silicon Forest are backing a Portland startup that wants to simplify data visualization online.

Reflect Technologies plans to disclose a $2.5 million investment round Tuesday, led by venture firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson. DFJ had previously backed SpaceX and Skype, among other startups.

Reflect’s other backers include startup accelerator Techstars, Stanford University and Portland investor Alex Payne, who was an early engineer at both Twitter and online banker Simple. Liquid 2 Ventures, the investment fund created by former NFL star Joe Montana, is also participating.

Reflect is founded and staffed by alumni of Portland cloud-computing specialist Cloudability, among them former Cloudability creative director Alex Bilmes, who is Reflect’s chief executive.

The company has five employees, all of whom work at Reflect’s headquarters in Northwest Portland.
