1. Get your purple on

Heisen House Vineyards invites guests to relax and de-stress in the midst of its annual lavender-laden celebration. The Lavender Festival, in its seventh year, features fresh and dried lavender among its many art and craft demonstrations, vendors and food offerings. It’s a family-friendly event including historic displays, tours and face painting that runs from noon to 9 p.m. July 30. Live music will mingle with the scent of lavender throughout the day, finishing up with the Mojo Blasters playing from 6 to 9 p.m. Heisen House Vineyards is at 28005 N.E. 172nd Ave., Battle Ground. The festival is free, with a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $3 for children. www.heisenhousevineyards.com

Swing by the Blueberry Pancake Day at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill. Blueberry pancakes made from wheat milled onsite will be served and topped with more blueberries and smothered in blueberry syrup. Visitors also can explore the 1876 building, with recipes and flour available. The event is from noon to 4 p.m. July 30 at Cedar Creek Grist Mill, 43907 N.E. 2. La Center summer

The Saturdays in the Park concert series continues with the Steven Hess Band as the group performs a tribute to BB King. The summer concert will run from 6 to 8 p.m. July 30 at Sternwheeler Park, 100 E. Fourth St. La Center, in the park’s amphitheater and gazebo. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. The free concert series will wrap up Aug. 6 with Neil Young tribute band Harvest Gold. www.pro-mompg.com

3. Satisfy the senses

The Satisfy Your Senses Art Show and Sale brings together the work of six local artists, with a portion of sales to benefit the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation. Attendees can meet Phyllis Flury, Jeanette French, Kathleen Hovis, Bonnie Junell, Edi Olson and Kathii Wiebe, enjoy wine from Confluence Vineyard and Winery and appetizers by Latte Da, with music by Justin Little from 5 to 9 p.m. July 29 during the spotlight reception. The show continues from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 30, with tunes by Caryn Jamieson Music and beer tasting from Loowit Brewing Company from 2 to 4 p.m. The art show concludes 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 31, with a raffle for an art print by Junell. The show all takes place at Latte Da Coffee House and Wine Bar, 205 E. 39th St., Vancouver. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. www.fvrlfoundation.org

4. Craft drinks

The 29th annual Oregon Brewers Festival, organized by the Oregon Brewers Association, is one of the largest brew festivals devoted to the art of craft beer. This year’s festival will feature a variety of craft beer styles from more than 80 breweries across the United States, along with 23 more international craft beers. Participants include Washougal’s 54? 40′ Brewing Co. and Doomsday Brewing Company, along with Everybody’s Brewing from White Salmon. There will be live music, home brewing demonstrations, food vendors and a soda garden for minors and designated drivers. The festival runs noon to 9 p.m. July 29-30 and noon to 7 p.m. July 31 at Gov. Tom McCall Waterfront Park, 1020 S.W. Naito Parkway, Portland. Admission is free, with $7 for a tasting mug for those 21 and older and $1 for tasting tokens. www.oregonbrewfest.com

5. National Night Out

The Fircrest Neighborhood Association will host an Eastside Community Picnic as part of National Night Out, open to all from 5 p.m. until dark Aug. 2. The event features free activities such as corn hole, craft tables, a bounce house and an obstacle course. There will be a screening of “Zootopia” at 8:45 p.m., along with information booths from local service organizations. Food will be available for purchase from local vendors and food carts. It all takes place at LeRoy Haagen Memorial Community Park, N.E. LeRoy Haagen Memorial Drive, Vancouver. The event is free, with 25 cents per turn for the bounce house and obstacle course, $5 for unlimited turns. www.facebook.com/eastsidepicnic

National Night Out encourages communities to help make neighborhoods safer by getting to know neighbors and meeting with local community services. Check to see if your neighborhood is planning an event for Aug. 2.
