ASTORIA, Ore. — An Oregon author and high school teacher has been arrested on charges of luring a minor and official misconduct after being indicted by a grand jury.

Police began investigating 52-year-old Matt Love in May when it was reported that Love sent photos and sexual language to encourage a teenage girl to engage in sex.

Police say Love was placed on administrative leave by the Astoria School District, where he is a teacher, in May.

Police say the minor involved was not a former student at Astoria but that he knew her from another teaching job on the Oregon coast.

Love’s lawyer Jack Green told The Astorian the charges are false, saying, “We eagerly await the day where we will have the opportunity to show that Matt did not commit these crimes.”
