SEATTLE — Washington health officials say two state residents have been sickened in an outbreak of E. coli connected to a General Mills recall of about 10 million pounds of flour.
The Seattle Times reports that state Department of Health spokeswoman Julie Graham says a person from Grant County and a person from Spokane County are among 38 people in 20 states with infections caused by a harmful strain of E. coli between Dec. 21, 2015 and May 3, 2016.
Investigators told General Mills half the people who got sick reported eating homemade foods with flour, including flour from General Mills, according to a company news release.
General Mills has recalled several brands of its flours sold nationwide, but said no E. coli has been found in the products.
