Everywhere I look, something is blooming. It is such a glorious time of year!

My yard is not exactly flower-friendly, so I garden vicariously with the help of books, and by admiring my friends’ and neighbors’ beautiful gardens. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I did live in a house with multiple flower beds, I wanted to bring the outdoors in. Unfortunately, I don’t have a knack for flower arranging. Well, that, and I tend to anthropomorphize things, especially things in nature, so I always felt a little bad separating flowers from their buddies. Yeah, I know — weird.

If you don’t have trouble beheading, er, I mean cutting flowers for your bouquets, you may want to look at a few flower arrangement books for inspiration. The library has a great selection of titles, and now that the blooming season is upon us, it’s the perfect opportunity for me to “petal” the library’s print and digital offerings in floral decoration. So, grab your pruning shears, and snip, snip away (with apologies to my little flowery friends). Here’s to flower power!

• “Beautiful Wildflowers: Wedding Bouquets, Arrangements & More from Nature’s Seasonal Abundance” by Edle Catharina Norman.

• “Bring the Outdoors In: Garden Projects for Decorating and Styling Your Home” by Shane Powers.

• “The Complete Book of Garlands, Circles & Decorative Wreaths: Creating Beautiful Seasonal Displays from Flowers and Natural Materials” by Fiona Barnett.

• “Design Star: Lessons from the New York School of Flower Design” by Michael Gaffney.
