OLYMPIA — The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office says a man sought in the disappearance of an Olympia woman has been arrested on gun charges.
Sixty-six-year-old James Stidd was found and detained by Washington State Patrol troopers Thursday on Interstate 90 in Adams County, between Ellensburg and Spokane in Eastern Washington.
The sheriff’s office said Stidd was being booked for investigation of four counts of unlawful gun possession, but they also described him as a potential suspect in the disappearance of 60-year-old Gayle Doyle. Investigators said Doyle was last seen arguing with Stidd at a tavern on June 2, and that Doyle told them he let her out of his car near a bowling alley that night.
They said they found “significant” evidence when they searched Stidd’s home on Wednesday, though they did not disclose what it was.
