Hockinson — A team of Hockinson Middle School students took third place in the statewide Youth Apps Challenge on June 4 sponsored by Google and hosted by the University of Washington Computer Science & Engineering in Seattle. The challenge motivates teams of middle and high school students to develop innovative computer applications to address everyday problems.

Gabriella Morley, Christa Phillips, Jasmine Shigeno and Madelynn Willis worked with teacher Anna-Melissa Lyons to design an app called ReMed. The app reminds people to take their medication, keeps track of all medications and also allows emergency personnel to access a patient’s medication list. The team is part of Hockinson’s Girls’ STEM Club directed by Lyons.
