Letter: Bring about change with your vote

We are bombarded with threats to our health and safety such as Zika, exploding car safety bags, and rising death rates from prescription meds. Legal action is ongoing to protect the public health in these instances. What about the daily health threat of guns?

As a retired U.S. Air Force officer with a career in health care, I am shocked by the little value given to human life as evidenced by the on-going lack of action by our national elected officials. Of note, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, has voted again and again against sensible gun legislation. She is up for re-election.

I believe it is time for a change. For our health and safety, demand public health action be taken to protect our lives. Demand change for our society. November is coming, you will have a chance to effect change. Vote!
