Humphreys into quarterfinal of Oregon Amateur

Recent Camas High School grad Brian Humphreys advanced to the quarterfinals of the 107th Oregon Amateur Championship with a 2 and 1 win over Jake Quast of Medford, Ore., on Thursday at Black Butte Ranch’s Glaze Meadow Golf Course in Central Oregon.

Humphreys took a 1-up lead with a birdie on No. 13, and went ahead 2-up with a par on No. 15.

In previous rounds, Humphreys beat Alex Kang of Tigard, Ore., 3 and 1, and No. 2 seed Kevin Murphy of Corvallis, Ore., 5 and 3.

Humphreys next plays Max Murai of Beaverton, Ore. They tee off at 8:18 a.m. Friday, and the winner will play the semifinal round beginning at 1:29 p.m. Friday. The final is Saturday.
