FC Salmon Creek team reaches regional final

Nemesis win 2-0 in girls under-15 semifinal match

The FC Salmon Creek Nemesis under-15 girls soccer team will play on Sunday for a regional championship.

The Nemesis scored one goal in each half on Saturday to defeat the Washington Rush of Everett 2-0 in a semifinal match at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Boise.

FC Salmon Creek will face Rebels SC Elite from San Diego on Sunday for the regional championship and a berth in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. Kickoff is set for 8 a.m. MDT at the Simplot Sports Complex in Boise.

In the 38th minute, Baylee Groom scored off an assist from Ava Benedetti, who hustled to win the ball and knocked it to Groom for the finish. In the 54th minute, Benedetti scored with an assist from MacKenzie Ellertson.

Coach Tina Ellertson said it was one of the most consistent performances from her team this season. She said that the Nemesis defense played a fantastic game to shut out the Washington state champion Rush team.

The Nemesis is at regionals as the Oregon state champion for the girls under-15 age group.
