Letter: Clinton favored

It seems political fundraising by those who support Hillary Clinton is far exceeding those who would contribute to Donald Trump. Trump indicates that is because of “special interests” that would support Clinton in return for favors. Trump’s comments have spurred me to give to a political party for the first time as I would like to show/prove that normal middle-income people will also show their support for Clinton.

In regard to equity in tax rates, I support Clinton because it is obvious Trump is his own special interest, and he will always favor those who are like him, meaning the very wealthy. Clinton will promote policies whereby the very wealthy will pay taxes at a rate equivalent to the middle class. For instance, Mitt Romney’s effective tax rate of 13 percent on income of $25 million (as revealed shortly before the 2012 election) compared to a middle-income effective tax rate of 29 percent (like mine and most middle-income wage earners) is grossly unfair.
