Hazel Dell –Worshipers at St. John Lutheran Church have collected $704 so far to the nonprofit World Vision for the purpose of creating water wells and providing water education to people in Zambia, Africa. Unclean water and poor sanitation are major contributors to disease and death in worldwide. According to World Vision’s website, “nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every day from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene.” The wells created by World Vision are invaluable to providing clean water to those in need. Just one well can provide 2,800 gallons of water every day, enough for over 300 people, according to the nonprofit. St. John Lutheran Church will continue to collect money for World Vision.
