Prep roundup: Injury overshadows Camas-Prairie soccer match

A severe leg injury to a Prairie player overshadowed Camas’ 6-1 boys soccer win on Monday.

Paramedics were called to Doc Harris Stadium in Camas when a Prairie senior’s leg was badly broken. The Columbian is not identifying the player without permission from his parents.

The injury occurred with six minutes left in the match, which was never resumed.

Prairie coach Mike Mikelson said the player was in a lot of pain and was taken to a local hospital. An update on his condition was not available Monday night.

Bennett Lehner scored four goals to lead Camas in its season opener. Prairie fell to 1-1.

Three make all-state basketball games: Alyssa Blanknship of Washougal and Jessica Flanagan of Woodland will represent Class 2A in the Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-State games.

The 2A girls will face the 1A girls at 4 p.m. Saturday at King’s High School in Seattle.

There is a 1B vs. 2B game at 2 p.m., and a 3A vs. 4A game at 6 p.m.

Clark County will also have representation in the boys event.

Denis Kirichenko of Union is on the 4A team for the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association All State Games, which will be held at Mountlake Terrace High School.

The 4A vs. 3A game is the final game of the boys event. The first game is 2 p.m., with the final game tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m.

Camden Keller, Skyview boys soccer, scored two goals in the Storm’s 4-2 win over Ridgefield.

Max Hauser Ridgefield boys soccer, scored both of his team’s goals in a 4-2 loss to Skyview.

Nick Erickson, Washougal boys soccer, scored a bicyle-kick goal in a 3-2 loss to Fort Vancouver.

Bennett Lehner, Camas boys soccer, scored four goals in a 6-1 win over Prairie.

Ellie Johnson, Skyview girls golf, shot a 5-over-par 42 in tough conditions for the low round against Washougal.
