Clark Public Utilities Commissioner Nancy Barnes is asking voters for a fifth term on the utility’s three-person board.

Barnes, first elected in 1992, represents District 2, which encompasses southeastern Clark County. The position is elected by all county voters.

“I am excited to continue working with the community and customers of Clark Public Utilities as we look for opportunities in a fast-changing energy world,” Barnes said in a press release.

She so far has no challengers for the position, which pays $2,285 per month plus full benefits. Terms last six years.

Barnes took first in a five-way primary in 2010 and barely beat Mike Lyons in that November’s election — she won by 641 votes out of 117,715 cast.
