Letter: Discover full agenda of candidates

What a fantastic story April 26, “Woodland teacher wins James Madison fellowship,” concerning the history teacher at Woodland High School, Katie Klaus. Congratulations to Klaus. She sounds like the ideal teacher.

Within the story was reference to a particular class about elections in which the students would vote for their candidate of choice. “They thought they were voting for a man named Samuel Jones, a 42-year-old noncommissioned officer, twice decorated for bravery. Jones, Klaus describes, is one of four candidates running for U.S. president in a hypothetical 2050 election. He’s energetic and idealistic, and believes the U.S. lost the war because of traitors. He wants to put them on trial and annul the recent peace treaty. He wants free state-run universities and better pensions, especially for veterans. His catchphrase: Make America great again.”

“This was the 1932 election in Germany,” Klaus announced to her class after counting the votes. “And you just voted for Hitler.” The class was shocked. This is proof that you need to know the candidates and what they stand for.

Most importantly, remember, nothing is free. There are consequences.
