Battle Ground — Two teams from Meadow Glade Adventist Elementary School, each comprising eight fifth- to seventh-graders, competed in the 10th annual First Lego League North Pacific Regional Robotics Challenge in College Place. This year’s theme was “Trash Trek.” At the tournament at Walla Walla Valley Academy, the MGAES Robotics and MGAES Mustangs teams demonstrated proficiency in robot design, innovation in creating a new product that reduced trash, cooperation and teamwork in the core values, and efficiency in robot engineering and programming. They competed in four events: core values, robot design, project presentation and board performance. The MGAES Robotics team earned second in project presentation and robot design, and third in board performance, and won first place in core values. The MGAES Mustang team won first place in project presentation, robot design and board performance, and placed third in core values. Additionally, the MGAES Mustangs team was invited to attend the national tournament Sunday in Sacramento, Calif., as the First Lego League North Pacific Regional Robotics Challenge champions.
