Letter: Furnish recycle bins in public space

I try to walk my dog at least twice weekly in Hockinson Regional Park. There are many excellent ball fields in this public park. We often walk on the path, which includes a paved section past some excellent ball fields.

On May 2, I noticed the trash receptacles were crammed full, of mostly plastic drink containers, including an overflow on the nearby picnic tables, and at least a case full of drink containers left beside the trash cans. Now it is noted that 90 percent of this “waste” is recyclable. I’m sure that the parents, and other park patrons, are prone to recycling. Last weekend was hot, for this time of year, so I’m sure they rehydrated themselves, and would have recycled these plastic containers, if they had the opportunity. My point is: Where are the recycle bins?

I’m sure all of this “trash” ended up in the garbage truck that serves Hockinson (and other) public parks. No doubt other parks on Monday were treated to the same display of neglect.

What is Clark County park management doing to alleviate this shameful disrespect of tax-supported maintenance?
