Letter: Pass burden on to landlords

Concerning the report by the May 2 Columbian online story “Vancouver sees numbers for proposed housing property tax,” here is the problem I see with this tax. Some folks have gotten greedy and are charging crazy rental rates. Not because of cost of operation, just out of greed. So the best thing to do as the Vancouver City Council sees it is to raise a tax rate on homeowners who have nothing to do with this greed, and have the taxpayers then put more money in the pockets of greedy.

Now I know there are people being put out by those greedy property owners, but why not put it to them to pay enough tax to subsidize the people they are putting out? Then maybe they will see that it will not pay to be so greedy.

My taxes should be for the operation of our city and schools, not to give to a few greedy rental property owners. I will vote “no” on this tax.
