Save the Date: Spring heats up with wine, food and music, including The Cure

Encore Concert Series concludes with its concert “Piano Lovers” at 7 p.m. today at Mill Plain United Methodist Church, 15804 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver. Pianist Thomas Rheingans will lead his ensemble in a mix of classical, pop and audience favorites. • The English Estate Winery will celebrate the 113th Anniversary of the English Farm from noon to 6 p.m. May 14 with tours, music, wine and food. There will be farm and winery tours conducted by the English family at 1 and 3 p.m., along with wine tastings and the release of the new hard ciders. • Crowd favorites Fadin’ by 9 and the Misty Mamas will be co-headlining a concert at 7 p.m. May 21 at Magenta Theater, 1108 Main St., Vancouver. • The ever-popular Dozer Day returns to Clark County Event Center at the Fairground the puts children of all ages in charge of heavy construction equipment in a dirt pile. Participants can drive dozers, excavators and dump trucks with a professional operator, with proceeds benefiting children’s charities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 21 and May 22. Run to Remember honors the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. armed forces. Featuring a Memorial Day Mile, along with 5k and 10k routes, the event benefits the nonprofit Northwest Battle Buddies, which provides service dogs for veterans. The Memorial Day Mile begins at 9 a.m. May 28, followed by the 5k and 10k races at 10 a.m from Reflection Plaza, 1703 Main St., Washougal. • English gothic rock band The Cure will kick off the summer concert season on May 28. Led by Robert Smith, the band will perform a mix of 37 years of Cure songs, along with some unreleased tracks. • The Camas Farmer’s Market kicks off its season June 1, featuring neighboring farmers and artisans for locally grown produce, flowers, meat, eggs, cheese and prepared foods in downtown Camas. • The Clark College Music Department will host its fifth annual Big Band Bash, a night of big band jazz and swing from 7 to 10 p.m. June 4. The Beacock Music Swing Band will open the performance.
