The La Center boys soccer team beat Hoquiam 2-1 in a penalty kick shootout to advance to the 1A district title match.

La Center faces Toledo-Winlock at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodland High School for the district championship.

The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead on a Jordan Vazquez goal in the first half.

Hoquiam tied the match in the second half and neither team scored in overtime.

La Center won the penalty-kick shootout 4-3 with Austin Taylor, Alec Watkins, Hunter Leach and Sergio Sandoval converting their kicks.

Sandoval made five saves as La Center’s goalkeeper.

Capital 2, Columbia River 0 — The Cougars from Olympia scored two goals early and made them stand up in the 3A bi-district playoff.

Columbia River now will play Hazen at noon Saturday in Burien for the Nos. 3 and 6 seeds to state.

Wilson 2, Prairie 1, OT-PKs — Christian Thyron scored a goal five minutes into a match and Brison Manandic had a stellar game in goal, but the Falcons fell in a penalty kick shooting to Wilson of Tacoma.

Wilson got the tying goal right before halftime and the two teams played evenly the rest of the way. But Wilson converted four of five penalty kicks in the shootout, and Prairie only three, eliminating the Falcons from the 3A bi-district playoffs.

Manandic finished with six saves.

Woodland 1, Mark Morris 0 — Francisco Baltazar scored in the third minute as the Beavers won their second consecutive loser-out match in the 2A district tournament.

Woodland must win a third loser-out match to reach state. The Beavers play at Aberdeen on Saturday, with the winner claiming the district’s third berth to state.
