Five local soccer teams set for state tournament

On to state.

The spring sports state tournaments begin this week.

Five Clark County boys soccer teams advanced to state this week, and two baseball teams.

Also this week, 14 local softball teams will compete in district and bi-district tournaments for nine potential berths to state.

Soccer

Camas, Union, Columbia River, Ridgefield and La Center advanced to state.

In the 4A state playoffs, Camas hosts Snohomish at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Doc Harris Stadium. Union plays at Mariner of Everett at 7 p.m. Both teams will be on the road Saturday for the quarterfinals if they advance.

In the 3A tournament, Columbia River will travel to Kennewick to face Kamiakin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. If the Chieftains win, they’ll be at Kiggins Bowl for the quarterfinals.

In the 2A tournament, Ridgefield will host Liberty of Issaquah at 7 p.m. Tuesday. If the Spudders win, they’ll be at home again in the quarterfinals.

In the 1A tournament, La Center will host Colville on Wednesday at Woodland High School.

Baseball

Columbia River and King’s Way Christian are still alive. River will face Seattle Prep at 10 a.m. Saturday in the 3A Bellevue Regional. If the Chieftains win, they’ll face Sumner or Eastside Catholic at 4 p.m.

In the 1A baseball tournament, King’s Way Christian faces Cedar Park Christian of Bothell at 1 p.m. in the Anacortes Regional. If the Knights win, they’ll meet Overlake or Cascade Christian at 4 p.m.

Softball

The 4A district tournament opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Battle Ground. Heritage plays Skyview and Union meets Evergreen. The winners will play Camas and Battle Ground at 6 p.m. with the championship game set for Wednesday. The top seed from district will host the KingCo’s No. 3 team on Saturday, with the district runner-up traveling to play the KingCo’s No. 2 team.

Columbia River and Prairie travel to the Sprinker Recreation Center in Tacoma for the 3A bi-district tournament on Friday and Saturday. Columbia River opens against Auburn Riverside, while Prairie faces Kennedy Catholic. Five of the 16 teams in the tournament advance to state.

Washougal plays at Rochester on Tuesday in hopes of joining Woodland, Ridgefield and Hockinson in the 2A district tournament at Fort Borst Park in Centralia on Thursday and Friday. Woodland opens against Tumwater, Ridgefield faces Centralia, Hockinson takes on W.F. West, and if Washougal wins Tuesday, the Panthers will meet R.A. Long. Three of the eight teams in the double-elimination bracket advance to state.

La Center and Stevenson will take part in the 1A district tournament on Wednesday and Saturday, also at Fort Borst Park. La Center opens against Tenino, and Stevenson faces Montesano.
