Letter: Grocer helps customers

I have to commend a local, and national, company, Kroger (Fred Meyer, locally) for effectively using their rewards program to the benefit of their customers and the community.

Recently, there was an extensive recall of frozen vegetables, due to possible exposure to listeria. While it was publicized by the Food and Drug Administration, the scope of exposure was extensive throughout the country, and the exactness of what was involved was very confusing.

I just received a robo-call from Kroger, advising of the recall. They had a Web page that allowed me to exactly see what was affected and what was not. Most were not affected, but I felt better by throwing out one package.

The company used their rewards membership tracking to help their customers. The rewards are great at Freddy’s, but this is really significant to me and others. Thank you.
