GOLD BAR — Thanks in part to the weather, firefighters made significant progress over the weekend fighting two wildfires in Western Washington.
Fire officials say a fire near Oso is now 50 percent contained. A fire near Gold Bar is now 90 percent contained.
A spokesman for an interagency team, Randy Shepard, says firefighters have started to mop up the interior of the both fires.
The Proctor Creek fire burning east of Gold Bar that has scorched about 352 acres. The Hot Shot fire burning northwest of Oso has covered about 67 acres.
