Letter: Solve casino water problem

By Robert Jones, RIDGEFIELD

It seems like the Cowlitz Tribe Casino wastewater problem is pretty straightforward.

The casino says it needs 400,000 gallons of water per day to operate. It has been regularly stated that the wastewater would be treated to drinking water standards, so what is the problem? Just reuse the water.

Therefore, no injection wells to potentially harm the Troutdale Aquifer System would be needed. There would be no accidental discharges into the Lewis River and no pipelines to install. Look at all the water saved.

We could bring the Clark County community together by having a water drive. Everyone donates a gallon jug or two and comes together to welcome our new neighbors. What do you think? Problem solved! One other thought — maybe The Columbian could sell coffee mugs that say “Start Doing Smart Stuff.”
