A Vancouver man appeared Thursday in Clark County Superior Court after allegedly following two women into a bathroom and snapping photos of them under the door of their restroom stall.

Tomas Bulux Velasquez, 23, appeared on suspicion of voyeurism stemming from the Wednesday incident at Vancouver Mall, 8700 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the women told police that they were followed into a family bathroom by a man.

One woman said that while she and her friend were taking selfies inside a bathroom stall, she saw the man, later identified as Bulux Velasquez, look under their stall door. He had his cellphone in his hand, she said, and appeared to be in the act of photographing them as she opened the stall door to leave, the affidavit said.

The women confronted Bulux Velasquez, who denied any wrongdoing, court records said.

Mall security was notified and contacted the police.

In an interview with police, Bulux Velasquez admitted to following the women into the bathroom and said he looked under their stall door after hearing one of them ask the other to take a picture of her buttocks, according to court documents.

On Thursday, Judge Robert Lewis granted Bulux Velasquez supervised release. He will hire his own attorney, court records show.

Bulux Velasquez will be arraigned May 26.
