The abrupt recent closure of the Rose’s Restaurant and Bakery in Camas is surrounded by mystery over just what happened to the once-popular eatery, as well as frustration by employees who are suddenly without work.

The restaurant’s owner, Michael Huddleston of Camas, said the closure is temporary and that he intends to re-open in June or July. “We’re getting new investors,” he said. “We are re-doing some stuff and changing the menus.”

The restaurant is at 2115 S.E. 192nd Ave. in Camas, where it relocated last year from 3205 S.E. 192nd Ave.

Huddleston operates under the corporate name Huddson Restaurant LLC, according to Washington State Department of Labor & Industries records. He said Thursday that he would defer further comments to his attorney and investors, who did not call with comments.

Rose’s launched decades ago in Portland and was known as one of the city’s premiere dining spots. In recent years, it branched out to new locations, including Vancouver, where it was under separate ownership.

Huddson Restaurant LLC was registered with the state in May 2013 with Michael H. Huddleston and Milagros P. Huddleston of Camas as principals.
