One person was found dead Sunday afternoon in a motor home that caught fire in Orchards.

Firefighters from the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched to the motor home, near the 6500 block of 121st Avenue, at about 1:30 p.m. They arrived to find flames shooting from a 33-foot motor home, according to a press release from the fire department.

They extinguished most of the fire from outside, and they had trouble getting into the motor home “due to debris that was stacked from floor to ceiling,” the fire department said in a press release. Firefighters used a special hose nozzle with the ability to penetrate sheet metal to extinguish the blaze, the agency said.

Once inside the motor home, firefighters found a body, the fire department said.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident. In a press release, the sheriff’s office said that it appears the death may have been accidental and caused by a mechanical problem with the motor home.
