Letter: Crash the party and reject TPP

The Columbian Opinion page staff is still swallowing the “miraculous elixir” of swill as per the May 4 editorial, “Fair trade stance is key: Trans-Pacific Partnership will benefit Washington; candidates’ views matter.” In reality, our so-called “leaders” are selling us out via the rapacious, plutocratic swindle called the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Now is the time to stand up for democratic principles and reject oligarchic rule and the anti-worker thuggishness of corporate globalization. We, the sovereign people of America, aren’t getting protection from our “leaders” who, instead, endorse these feral, multinational invaders and their worship of money.

This trade “deal” is another raw deal. Period. To promote it is to promote union busting, the defunding of public services, downsizing, offshoring, price gouging, Citizens United, privatization, the Wall Street bailout, student debt, tax dodging, criminalization of poverty, militarization of police, and more. And, yes, candidate Bernie Sanders has a view, and it matters — so cover it.

The growing “rumble of thunder” crashing the profit party of corporate greed supports keeping the planet green and upholding the common good. Tabling on this issue is at Esther Short Park most every Saturday and Sunday. Help show the clueless ruling class of corporate and governmental elites that their “party” is over.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
