A group of duck hunters found a stolen, burned-up car Wednesday morning near Vancouver Lake.

The Vancouver Fire Department was called around 6 a.m. to state Highway 501 near the lake, where they found a car burned down to the tires. It was still a bit warm and smoking slightly, police said.

Deputy Clark County Fire Marshal Curtis Eavenson said the car, a 2006 Ford Focus, was reported as stolen before the hunters found it.

The car burned so thoroughly there was no way to make an official determination about what happened, he said.
