Clark County – The school boards for Evergreen Public Schools, Battle Ground Public Schools and the Camas School District were three of 24 Boards of Distinction named by the Washington State School Directors’ Association.

The boards were honored for demonstrating effective use of the Washington School Board Standards. The standards “promote research-based governance practices that lead to high levels of student and district achievement, and help close the opportunity gap,” according to a release from the state association.

Honorees submitted essays and supporting evidence to show how those standards are being put into practice. The essays had to address how board members are accountable and open to the public, have adopted a district plan focused on learning and support district teachers and staff.

The boards will be honored Nov. 17 during the association’s annual conference in Spokane.
