As many as 3,800 Clark Public Utilities customers in northern Clark County were without power starting Thursday evening.

The utility said the issue appeared to be connected to a problem with a Pacific Power transmission line that ties into the county’s power system. The outage started around 4:30 to 5 p.m.

Crews from the Portland-based utility company were out working to find and repair the problem, Clark PUD spokeswoman Erica Erland said, and county crews were out helping.

Pacific Power spokesman Ry Schwark said utility staff also had indications the problem may have had some connection to Clark PUD’s View Substation near Amboy.

She said the lines in question appeared to be in a very rural and wooded area. Power had been restored to a few hundred customers by about 8:30 that evening, with power restored to the remaining customers by about 9:30 p.m.
