How Clark County college football players fared, Nov. 12

The season ended for many smaller football programs around the Northwest on Saturday.

A few Clark County players ended their seasons on a high note.

Simon Fraser linebacker Gabe Lopes, a Camas grad, returned a fumble for a touchdown against Western Oregon. The sophomore ended the season with 47 tackles in 10 games.

Battle Ground grad Kevin Haynes continued to climb the ranks at Central Washington. The junior linebacker had a career-high 17 tackles against Humboldt State. Haynes now has 281 tackles in his career, ranking fifth all-time at CWU.  His 109 tackles on the year ranks 10th most in a single season.

CWU receiver Jesse Zalk ended his career with two more touchdown catches. The Prairie grad had 15 TDs this season and holds the CWU record for career all-purpose yards at 5,200.

Eastern Oregon cornerback John Payne (Camas) had six tackles and one interception. But his season isn’t over as the Mountaineers qualified for the NAIA playoffs.

Citrus College
