A Portland man is being held on $150,000 bail after he allegedly broke into a Vancouver home, sexually assaulted a sleeping girl inside and stole nearly $1,000 worth of items, court records show.

Jordan Lee Jones, 22, appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree burglary with sexual motivation and second-degree theft stemming from the Aug. 30 home-invasion.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded at about 5:30 a.m. to a residence in the 1700 block of Northeast Second Loop after a sleeping 16-year-old girl woke up to find someone inappropriately touching her. She kicked and screamed, prompting the suspect to run out of the residence.

The girl’s stepmother woke up and checked the house. She noticed all of the interior lights that had been left on over night were off, and the master bedroom’s window and a sliding glass door were open, the affidavit said.

The family realized they had been burglarized and discovered many belongings were missing, including a designer purse and wallet that contained credit cards, a car key, apparel and electronics. They estimated the items were valued at about $941, court records state.

A police canine was called to the scene but was unable to locate a suspect.

Investigators discovered that some fence boards in the yard had been broken and removed to potentially gain access to the house. Someone also used a chair from the family’s patio dining set to try to gain access through a bedroom window. Fingerprints found on the window later came back as a match to Jones, according to court documents. The family said they don’t know him.

Jones reportedly is a suspect in numerous burglaries and thefts in the Portland area. Investigators believe he may have had a stolen vehicle waiting for him near the residence, which allowed him to quickly escape, the affidavit states.

Jones was detained in September in Portland for allegedly possessing a stolen vehicle and had been in custody at the Multnomah County Jail since on several pending matters, court records said.

He will be arraigned Dec. 2.
