Letter: Future White House is step backward

In 1964, when I was 4 years old, my parents took me to the New York World’s Fair. The pavilion housed the first version of Walt Disney’s “It’s a Small World” ride. I can clearly remember going on that ride and seeing all of the animatronic dolls that represented children from all over the world. The theme was love, compassion, diversity, and understanding. I grew up believing in these concepts. The United Nations was my shining light.

Never again would the world ever have to face something so horrific as the Holocaust. The world had learned its lesson and was moving forward into a Gene Roddenberry future where pluralism and diversity were treasured.

And now we soon will have white supremacists in the White House. I am physically ill from what I see happening.
