A Vancouver man is now featured on state Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler’s insurance fraud most-wanted list after failing to appear in court to face felony charges.

Erich Scott, 29, failed to appear for his arraignment in Clark County Superior Court on Sept. 23, according to the insurance commissioner’s office. He’s facing felony charges of filing false insurance claims in excess of $1,500 and first-degree attempted theft. The court issued a warrant for Scott’s arrest.

Scott was charged on Sept. 9, after an investigation by Kreidler’s Special Investigations Unit.

According to the investigation, Scott filed a claim with Geico insurance in July 2015 after a vehicle collision.

The damage to his car and the other vehicle involved was estimated to be more than $13,000, according to the insurance commissioner’s office.

Geico denied the claim, stating it had canceled his policy in April 2015 when he stopped paying premiums. Geico provided letters sent to Scott each month from April to July. Scott gave Geico bank records that apparently showed he made his premium payments.

However, a search of his bank records did not show any payments to Geico, according to the investigation.

Geico referred the case to Kreidler’s investigations unit, as required by law.

Anyone with information about Scott can contact local law enforcement or Kreidler’s investigators, 360-586-2566.
