Rylee McDonald headed home a free kick from Ellie Quercia in the 90th minute on Wednesday to lift the Clark College women’s soccer team to a 3-2 win over visiting Lane Community College.

The win improves the Penguins to 9-0 atop the South Division of the Northwest Athletic Conference. It was the first division loss of the season for the Titans from Eugene, Ore. At 6-1, Lane is nine points behind Clark in the race for the division title.

McDonald, a Camas graduate, won a battle with a defender to get on the end of Quercia’s free-kick delivery from the right wing.

“I was really proud of the girls for buckling down and going and getting that winning goal after giving up the lead,” Clark coach Sean Janson said.

Quercia assisted on all three Clark goals, setting up Molly Joyce for goals into 27th and 48th minutes as Clark built a 2-0 lead. Lane responded with goals in the 79th and 81st minutes to tie the score.

The Penguins have three matches remaining in league play. They host Rogue Valley at 2 p..m. next Wednesday.

Clark men 3, Lane 1 — Carlos Bravo, Kento Oudomphong, and Woodlin Placide scored goals as the Penguins beat the visiting Titans. Clark (6-3-1, 19 points) is second in the South Division, three points behind Chemeketa (7-1-1).
