A Vancouver man has died after being critically injured Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in Cowlitz County.

Jason H. Wright, 40, of Vancouver was driving a 2001 Ford Focus north on Interstate 5 just before 6 p.m. when the vehicle hydroplaned on standing water about three miles north of Kelso, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Wright lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and hit a tree. Wright was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He was pronounced dead on Monday, troopers said.

Troopers said Wright had been driving too fast for the conditions at the time of the crash.

His family members set up a donation page to help offset financial burdens. The page explains that Wright was on his way to a relative’s wedding during a windstorm when the crash occurred.

Anyone interested in donating to the family can do so at www.gofundme.com/2uj6vn0.
