A Vancouver man has been arrested in connection with reports Tuesday of a man shooting at a passing vehicle in Orchards.

Aron Hunter Rodgers, 44, was one of two men detained after the incident in the 7300 block of Northeast 159th Avenue, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. He was later booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of illegal discharge of a firearm and reckless endangerment.

The second man detained, Charles Edward Alred,  22, was booked on an unrelated District Court warrant, the sheriff’s office said.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the report of gunfire around 10:40 a.m. A caller said he saw a neighbor shooting at a blue sedan driving by the neighbor’s house. The caller said the shooter then hopped in a black Chevrolet Corvette and followed the blue car, according to the sheriff’s office.

About 10 minutes later, a Vancouver police officer spotted a matching Corvette stopped on Fourth Plain Boulevard.

Officers, with weapons drawn, approached and detained both the driver and a passenger near the Wendy’s at Northeast 162nd Avenue and 18th Street.

Detectives with the Tactical Detective Unit later served a search warrant on the Corvette and a residence at 7209 N.E. 159th Ave. Two handguns were recovered from the vehicle along with a number of spent shell casings from the residence.

No injuries were reported. The occupants of the blue sedan had not been contacted, nor had they reported the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities asked that anyone with information concerning this incident or the identity of the occupants of the blue sedan call the sheriff’s office at 360-397-6079.
