Clark County – Clark County law enforcement agencies have received a $60,000 grant to put more officers on the streets to address pedestrian safety.

The Target Zero Task Force of Clark and Skamania Counties received the Pedestrian Safety Grant to protect and educate pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers about their respective rules of the roadway.

The emphasis will focus on Clark County areas around arterial roadways with high traffic volumes.

Aside from Seattle, Vancouver experienced more pedestrian fatalities than any other Washington city between 2010 and 2014. During the same period, Vancouver experienced 78 percent more pedestrian fatalities than Tacoma.

The grant is paid for by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
